Endsight Consulting is pleased to announce its global ranking of 75 mid-range countries for their environment for business and investment. This worldwide assessment follows our release last month that ranked all 54 African countries,
Endsight measures and ranks 75 of the most interesting emerging and established economies worldwide. We exclude the world’s most advanced economies as well as weakest performers to focus on a middle cadre of countries that present businesses and investors with unique opportunities for entry or growth. (China, Russia, India, and Brazil are not included.)
Available to the public for the first time, our methodology compiles nearly 100,000 data points into 36 indicators organized into three categories: 1) Business Conditions, 2) Financial Factors, and 3) Governance. We provide rankings and analysis for overall performance, the three categories, and all 36 indicators.

Rankings Overview
So, what are the rankings? Below is our Top 15 for overall scores, the three categories, and the biggest movers.
The Baltic states and eastern Europe dominate the global rankings, taking the majority of the Top 15 spots, with Estonia, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia leading the way.
In other regions,
- Chile is the top Latin American country at #11, with Costa Rica at #16 and Uruguay at #18.
- Malaysia is the leading East Asian country at #14, with Thailand at #21 and Indonesia at #24.
- Mauritius is Africa’s top performer at #19, with Botswana at #23 and South Africa at #34.
The Business Conditions and Governance categories have a similar trend as the overall rankings with many of the same players in the Top 15. However, in the Financial Factors category, we see Indonesia, Mexico, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam at the top, showing strength in East Asia.
Perhaps most interesting, the fastest upward progress among our 75 countries has Angola, Mongolia, Zambia, Uzbekistan, and Algeria filling the Top 5 spots. Africa and Latin America shows promising progress among the Top 15 movers.
The following 9 countries have an interesting combination of overall rank and upward movement rank.
